Enterprise Discount Program (EDP) in Finout
Updated over a week ago

Finout is revolutionizing cloud cost management with its innovative Enterprise Discount Program (EDP) feature, designed to empower users with maximum flexibility and accuracy. This feature allows businesses to seamlessly configure their discount agreements directly into Finout, providing a dynamic and self-service approach to monitoring cloud expenses.

This feature ensures meticulous accuracy in reflecting the true cost after discounts, beyond what’s provided in native billing statements from providers. With Finout, users can effortlessly adjust and apply these discounts to all MegaBill accounts, experiencing real-time visibility into their financial landscape without any limitations from Service Level Agreements (SLAs). This allows for more strategic, informed decision-making in managing cloud costs, ensuring that businesses are always ahead in their financial planning.

Finout’s EDP feature supports two configuration options:

  1. Discount Percentage- Represents the percentage of the discount.

  2. Discount Rate- Represents a change in the actual rate itself.

Note:

  • Only admins are granted access to configure EDP settings in Finout.

  • Users can define only a single EDP Tag for each account.

Who Can Benefit from Finout's EDP Feature?

  • Non-direct EDP users: Finout's EDP feature is especially useful for those who do not automatically receive Enterprise Discount Program (EDP) benefits in their Cloud Usage Report (CUR) from AWS. It enables these users to manually add and configure discounts within Finout for a more accurate representation of their post-discount cloud costs.

  • Versatile discount application: The EDP feature in Finout is versatile and can be used to apply discounts not just for Amazon Web Services, but across various services integrated into a user's MegaBill. This makes it a valuable tool for businesses managing a diversified cloud infrastructure.

  • For direct EDP recipients: Users who already receive their EDP discounts directly in their CUR from AWS (or any other cloud provider) might not need to use Finout's EDP feature, as their discounts are automatically applied and reflected in their billing data. However, they can still use Finout's EDP feature for any additional, non-AWS services they wish to apply discounts to, or for further customization and detailed monitoring of their cloud costs.

3)Where: Select relevant cost center filters for EDP application.

4)Then: Specify the applicable EDP discount rate or percentage.
    - Percentage: This applies to the entire cloud bill. For example, a 50% discount on the AWS bill due to EDP.
    - Rate: Represents a specific value. For example, a 1.5$ discount for AmazonEC2 due to EDP.

5)Timeframe settings: Optionally define a timeframe for EDP rules to apply.
6)Additional rules: Incorporate any other specific rules as needed. For instance, a 25% EDP discount on certain services (e.g., Datadog).
7)Set the percentage value for the untagged cost.
8)Receive notifications on any changes made to this virtual tag.

  4. Click Apply EDP Tag.
