Why Use Finout’s Report Feature?

Finout allows you to create daily, weekly, or monthly reports based on your dashboards. A report can be sent periodically to your email or posted as a message to Slack (see Create an Endpoint).

Create a Report

  1. Select Reports.

  2. Click Create Report.

  3. Enter a Report Name.

  4. Enter a Report Description.

  5. Select a dashboard.

  6. In the Choose an endpoint, either select a Slack endpoint or enter an email address.

  7. Select a Report time frame (Daily, Weekly, or Monthly) and the required number of days, weeks, or months.

  8. Select the Interval (daily, weekly, or monthly). This defines how often the report will be sent.

    • For weekly, select the Day of the Week.

    • For monthly, select the Day of the Month.

  9. Select the time to send and the Time Zone.

  10. Click Save Report.

  11. Ensure that the report is active.

  12. View the report in Slack or your email. Reports sent to Slack and email include:

    1. A direct link to the report's dashboard in Finout.

    2. An image of the report's dashboard for quick reference.

You can also clone and delete reports, as required.

Activate a report

  1. Select Reports.

  2. Click to activate the required report.

Create an endpoint

If you want to send your report to Slack, configure a Slack webhook and create a Slack endpoint. You can test your endpoint when you create it.

  1. Configure a Slack webhook as described in https://api.slack.com/messaging/webhooks.

  2. Select Settings > Endpoints.

  3. Click Add endpoint.

  4. Enter an Endpoint name.

  5. Enter a Description.

  6. Enter a Slack webhook URL.

  7. To test the endpoint, click Test Endpoint.

  8. Click Add Endpoint.

Email Reporting Clarifications

When configuring an email report in Finout, please keep in mind these key points:

  • Entering an email address: Input the email address into the designated field. For email addresses associated with existing Finout users, an autocomplete feature will help you quickly find and select the right user.

  • Addresses of non-Finout users: For email addresses not linked to a Finout account, ensure you type the complete address and hit 'Enter' for the system to recognize it.

  • Domain-based security: Finout applies domain-specific security protocols for email reporting. Reports can be sent only to email addresses that belong to the same domain as the users in your Finout account. Reports to email addresses with different domains will be blocked for security purposes.

  • Using distribution lists: The process for adding distribution lists is similar to individual email addresses. If the list corresponds to Finout users, the autocomplete feature will aid in selecting it. For external lists, type and confirm the full address. Remember, distribution lists must comply with the domain restriction rule - they are only viable if their domain aligns with the domains of the users in your Finout account
