Finout Reports empowers you to create daily, weekly, or monthly reports directly from your dashboards and send them to your email, post them to Slack or MS Teams, ensuring your team stays informed on key metrics. Additionally, reports can be sent to distinct endpoints based on group-by values, allowing you to customize data delivery for each team. This makes it easy to send each team a report filtered with only their specific data to their own endpoint, enhancing relevance and accessibility for all stakeholders.
Note: The group-by functionality is coming soon.
Important:
Slack:
To send your report to Slack, configure a Slack webhook and create a Slack endpoint. For information on creating a Slack endpoint, see Slack Notification Endpoint.
MS Teams:
Make sure that the user has permissions to install apps from Teams marketplace.
Use the same Microsoft Teams account (user email address) for both the integration setup within the Finout platform and the Finout app installation on Teams. See MS Teams.
Email:
Addresses of non-Finout users: For email addresses not linked to a Finout account, ensure you type the complete address and hit 'Enter' for the system to recognize it.
Using distribution lists: Adding distribution lists is similar to adding individual email addresses. If the list corresponds to Finout users, the autocomplete feature will help you select it. For external lists, type and confirm the full address.
You can create daily, weekly, or monthly reports from your dashboards and send them directly to your email or posted to Slack or MS Teams, ensuring your team stays up-to-date with key metrics.
To create a report:
In Finout, navigate to Reports.
Click Create Report. The Create Report step appears.

Report Endpoints - Choose the endpoints to where you want the report to be sent. You can set a default endpoint for the report, or you can choose to 'group by' a specific Megabill key. This allows you to send filtered reports to the corresponding endpoints set for each group-by value.
Send the report to endpoints per value (Optional): Enables sending reports to endpoints based on group-by values, filtered accordingly, ensuring each segment receives data relevant to its context. Example: You can generate a cost report filtered by a team. This involves grouping by the virtual tag's team, using the Virtual tag's Metadata API to populate the team's virtual tag with endpoint metadata. The final report will then be sent to each team's designated endpoint.
Note: - If no specific endpoint is set per value, the report will be sent filtered by that value to the default endpoint when set. - When grouping by virtual tag, the endpoints assigned to virtual tag values through the Virtual Tag Values Metadata API are automatically populated. To learn how to set endpoints for each virtual tag value using the API, view the Virtual Tag Metadata API documentation.
.
Click Choose Group By. The available options appear for selection.
Note: The group-by functionality is coming soon.
Select the desired group-by and click Apply Group By. The group by values and endpoints table appears.
Note:
When grouping by virtual tag, if virtual tag values include endpoint metadata, they will automatically be populated and updated in the “Metadata Endpoint” Column. To learn how to set endpoints for each virtual tag value using the API, view the Virtual Tag Metadata API documentation.
Your report can include a maximum of 5,000 values. Reports exceeding this limit cannot be saved.
You can add additional endpoints per value by clicking Choose an endpoint to add an additional Slack, MS Teams, and Email endpoint per value. When a value has multiple endpoints associated, a filtered report for that value is sent to all the associated endpoints.
Note: Click to disable sending reports to the metadata endpoint specified for this value in the virtual tag metadata.
Choose a Default Endpoint (optional when group by is selected)
Choose a Slack/MS Team endpoint or enter an email address.
Click Choose Slack/MS Teams/Email endpoint.
Choose a default endpoint from the dropdown list or type an email address to select an email.
Note: - When no specific endpoint is defined for a group by value, a filtered report of that value will be sent to the default endpoint when set. - Use the left toggle to disable sending a report to a specific value.
