Slack Notification Endpoint

Overview

A Slack notification endpoint is a webhook that enables you to send notifications from Finout to a specific Slack channel. When a notification endpoint is configured, Finout can send messages to the specified Slack channel by sending a POST request to the endpoint URL.

These notifications can include alerts, updates, or other relevant information that needs to be communicated to team members in real-time.

By utilizing Slack notification endpoints, teams can streamline their communication processes and ensure that critical information is always delivered to the right people, at the right time, and in the right format.

Note: Finout now uses a simplified Slack integration that replaces the manual webhook setup. Instead of configuring Slack webhooks you can now invite Finout in any public or private Slack channel to automatically create an endpoint in Finout. This allows alerts, reports, and notifications to be sent directly to that channel without manual configuration. Once the new integration is enabled, the old method of adding Slack webhook URLs is no longer available. This new approach streamlines setup, supports up to 1,000 channels, and makes managing Slack notifications easier across your organization.

  2. Select Settings > Endpoints.

  3. Click Add endpoint.

  4. Enter an Endpoint name.

  5. Enter a Description.

  6. Enter a Slack webhook URL.

  7. To test the endpoint, click Test Endpoint.

  8. Click Add Endpoint.

For more information about endpoints and how to connect to a report, please refer to the Reporting documentation.

FAQs

  • If a Slack channel is archived or closed without running /remove @finout, will it leave orphaned endpoints in the user’s account? Archiving or deleting a channel removes the endpoint from Finout automatically.
