Connect to Anthropic (Beta)

Overview

Connect Anthropic cost data to Finout using the official Admin API cost reporting endpoint. The integration enables the automated ingestion of Anthropic spend and provides detailed visibility across key dimensions, including models, token types, service tiers, and more.

Finout’s Anthropic integration lets you automatically ingest cost data from Anthropic’s official Usage and Cost API. This enables you to track Anthropic spend alongside your existing cloud and SaaS services in Finout, providing complete visibility into key dimensions, such as model, token, and workspace. Data is refreshed daily, ensuring that spend insights remain accurate and up-to-date.

Costs from Anthropic are reported as direct usage charges. Unlike cloud providers, Anthropic does not provide blended, amortized, or committed use pricing models. Finout maps Anthropic’s raw usage cost into the Unblended Cost field for consistent FinOps reporting.

With this integration, you can:

• Connect one or more Anthropic organizations with read-only Admin API keys

• Include Anthropic cost data in custom dashboards, set up alerts to track anomalies, and incorporate it into your financial plans to ensure spending is within budget.

Note: Anthropic requires an Admin API key for access to the Cost API. Finout uses this key only to read cost data from the Cost API. It does not perform cost-incurring actions such as creating or running model calls. However, Anthropic does not currently support finer permission scoping for cost/usage data access.

Step 1: Create an Anthropic API Key

Prerequisite: You must have the Anthropic admin role in your organization to create an Admin API key.

1. Navigate to the Anthropic Console → Admin keys page .

   
2. Click + Create Admin Key.

3. Enter a Name with a clear identifier (e.g. Finout Integration) and then click Add.

4. Copy the key immediately and store it securely, as it will not be shown again.

   

   Important: Finout uses this key only to read cost data from the Cost API. It does not perform cost-incurring actions such as creating or running model calls. You may revoke this key at any time.

Step 2: Connect Anthropic to Finout

1. In Finout, navigate to Settings.

   
2. Under Anthropic, click Connect Now.

   
3. Enter the Cost Center Name.

4. Enter the API key created and click Next. Result: Finout validates the key to confirm permissions, and assuming it is valid, the Cost is now created. You will receive an email notification once Finout has retrieved your data and set up the current cost center.

FAQs

Which Anthropic services are currently supported by Finout?

Finout retrieves cost data for all Anthropic services. Usage data (e.g. token counts) isn’t currently supported.
